Contact Hathaways when it's time to get your boat ready for sailing again.
Boats have a strange way of developing problems while laid up. Don't let a minor
issue turn into a big problem during your summer cruise.
Next time your mast is out take advantage of the time to do a thorough survey.
What you should check:-
- Do all the sheaves turn easily?
- Do all clutches lock and unlock with ease?
- Have your winches been serviced in the past year?
- Is there chafe or other damage to your running rigging?
- When was the backstay adjuster last serviced?
- Do the wire or rod fittings have any rust or visible cracks?
- If you have a furler, does it spin easily?
- Look over your lifelines for signs of cracks in the vinyl or rust stains
- What caused you problems last season?
As you look at the rig and deck equipment, keep a list of questionable items
or "wishful" needs. After you check over your rig, remember to discuss the whole
list with us, often combinations of items and seeing the whole list will help
us understand your needs.
