The headsail provides power and additional pointing ability for your boat. The needs of racers and cruisers vary, most racing boats carry multiple sizes and weights of sails for varying conditions and each sail can be designed and optimized for a specific wind angle and range. Cruisers tend to have only one or two sails, typically a large genoa and small jib which are set on a furler and reefed as necessary. This requires that the design and material of the sail handle a wide range of conditions.

In both cases it's not an obvious choice. Hathaways will spend time with each customer discussing their needs and future intent to ensure that the sail delivered is the best one for them.
