Jacklines
are a must for safe, secure on-deck movement in rough weather
or at night. Traditionally these were made of wire which provided
strength without stretch but provided an unsettling feel should
one place one's foot on the wire. To solve this, Hathaway invented
the "flat" jackline and gained it's first approval by
the ORC. Today flat webbing is the standard for jacklines.
Hathaway's
9800# yellow polyester jacklines are superior to the 6000# jacklines
currently available from other manufacturers. In addition to
9800# webbing for improved strength, we use a V-415 thread which
offers high strength and abrasion resistance characteristics.
Each pair of jacklines is customized to your length requirements
plus include 2 high strength eyes and an adjustable lashing
system for properly tensioning and belaying the jackline. Hathaway
jacklines are approved for offshore use and easy to install
and remove.
How
to install HR&R custom jacklines:
Attach
the webbing forward : use a large shackle when attaching or
pass the web loop through your cleat and then over the horns.
Lead the jacklines aft around the cabin, shrouds, etc., then
affix the lashing line/length adjustment device to the aft attachment
point. Attach this end with multiple passes this ensures adequate
strength and chafe resistance.
How
to order your own HR&R custom jacklines:
An
accurate measurement is necessary for a proper, custom fit.
Simply measure from the bearing surface of a strong attachment
point forward (such as a mooring cleat or stemhead) to the bearing
surface of a similar attachment point aft. When measuring, provide
adequate slack around the side of the cabin trunk, shrouds,
etc. to allow the webbing to lay flat on deck. Please contact
